Karen de Bruyne is a professional genealogist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies. She is a Research agent at the British Library’s Asia and Africa Reading room for family history and has over 25 years research experience from all around the world, specialising in London families and those who passed through British India and the Far East and Dutch Indies.

Most recently Karen has worked on establishing a possible Huguenot descendant and 4 generations of Scottish fishermen and soldiers, found what happened to a long lost great aunt and established contact with long lost family whose ancestor had changed name.

This talk is about her cousin Sophia, a Devon farmer’s daughter and her story to an Edinburgh Mental asylum via India.
