Doreen Young was born in Poole to a Poole Family and holds a deep respect and love of the Old Town. Her father attended the National School and her mother South Road School. Her own schooling she received at Lagland Street Infants and South Road Girls’ resulted in a scholarship to Parkstone Grammar School where she spent most of her World War II years
