SUMMARY:My Cousin Sophia – from Exeter to Edinburgh via India and the Suspect Family she married into! A Zoom meeting by Karen de Bruyne
DESCRIPTION:Karen de Bruyne is a professional genealogist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Genealogical\, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies. She is a Research agent at the British Library’s Asia and Africa Reading room for family history and has over 25 years research experience from all around the world\, specialising in London families and those who passed through British India and the Far East and Dutch Indies. Most recently Karen has worked on establishing a possible Huguenot descendant and 4 generations of Scottish fishermen and soldiers\, found what happened to a long lost great aunt and established contact with long lost family whose ancestor had changed name. This talk is about her cousin Sophia\, a Devon farmer’s daughter and her story to an Edinburgh Mental asylum via India. \nSociety Members who have consented to receive information by e-mail will find a meeting invitation link in the latest E-News\, usually sent a few days before each meeting. If that has not been received\, it is also available in the password protected Members’ Area. \nThose who do not receive E-News\, or who are not Society Members\, are welcome to join this meeting and should use this link and select the Liaison option to message us with a request for an invitation link. This request should reach us at least 6 hours before the meeting is due to start\, and the link will be sent about 2 hours before the meeting starts. \nThere is a charge of £3.00 per person\, payable at this link. \n
